Ecco, questa \u00e8 la piazza pi\u00f9 grande di tutta Milano. Oltre alla cattedrale del Duomo, che avrete certamente riconosciuto, non lasciatevi sfuggire il bellissimo Palazzo Reale, sulla sinistra del Duomo, e accanto l\u2019Arengario\u00a0oggi adibito a museo, precisamente, il\u00a0Museo del \u2018900.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Per apprezzare la maestosit\u00e0 del Duomo arrivate fino al limite della piazza e mettetevi proprio di fronte\u2026 ma quanto \u00e8 grande? Ma quante statue ci sono sopra le guglie? E quanto \u00e8 alto? Ma quanto tempo ci hanno messo per costruirlo? Pensate, quasi 600 anni\u2026 tant\u2019\u00e8 che quando si vuol dire che una cosa non arriva mai al suo compimento si usa dire\u00a0<\/span><\/span>sembra la fabbrica del Duomo<\/i><\/span><\/span>! Innanzitutto non vi mettete a contare le guglie con le statue, sono pi\u00f9 di 3000 e accontentatevi di sapere che la base della Madonnina si trova a pi\u00f9 di 100 metri di altezza e che la Madonnina, in realt\u00e0, \u00e8 alta quasi 5 metri! Come in tutte le grandi opere, anche il Duomo, \u00e8 accompagnato da una leggenda, una storia questa che fa anche un po\u2019 paura\u2026 Pare che in una notte d\u2019inverno, il duca di Milano Gian Galeazzo Visconti si trovasse nel suo comodo letto principesco e che in sogno gli sia apparso il Diavolo in persona!
\nIl diavolo disse al duca che se non avesse voluto essere trascinato all\u2019inferno, avrebbe dovuto immediatamente dare l\u2019avvio alla costruzione di una grandissima cattedrale che per\u00f2 contenesse tantissime immagini del demonio! Gian Galeazzo promise e il diavolo scomparve.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dal giorno seguente il Duca chiam\u00f2 al suo cospetto tutti i suoi ingegneri ed architetti e li mise a conoscenza del suo progetto: un\u2019opera grandiosa con tante immagini del Diavolo\u2026 tant\u2019\u00e8 che oggi potete ammirare, 96 doccioni in pietra che hanno le sembianze del demonio\u2026 Era usanza che tali sculture avessero sembianze mostruose o fantastiche proprio per tenere lontano gli spiriti maligni! <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Potete anche salirci, in cima al Duomo, se volete. Here we are, in the largest square in all of Milan. Apart from the cathedral, which you will certainly have recognised, don\u2019t miss the beautiful Royal Palace, on the left of the cathedral, and next to that, the Palazzo del Arengario which is nowadays used as a museum, the Museo del \u2018900, or twentieth century museum.<\/p>\n

To appreciate the majesty of the cathedral, go to the far end of the square and stand directly facing it. How big it is! How many statues on the spires! And how tall it is! How long did it take to build? Just think, nearly 600 years\u2026such a long time that if Italians want to talk about something that is never brought to term, they say, \u201cit is like the building of the cathedral!\u201d<\/p>\n

You\u2019d better not start counting the spires and their statues: there are over 3,000 of them! Just think that the base of the golden Madonnina statue is over 100m above the ground, and the Madonnina is actually almost 5 metres tall! As with all great building projects, the cathedral is accompanied by a legend, a story that is also a bit scary. One winter night, the duke of Milan Gian Galeazzo Visconti was resting in his comfortable, princely bed when the devil himself appeared to him in a dream. The devil told the duke that, if he didn\u2019t want to be dragged to hell, he should immediately start the construction of a huge cathedral that, however, had to feature many images of the demon! Gian Galeazzo promised to, and the devil disappeared.<\/p>\n

The next day, the duke called all his engineers and architects\u00a0 and he revealed his project to them: a grand construction featuring many images of the devil. In fact, today you can admire 96 stone gargoyles which look like the devil\u2026It was actually normal for such sculptures to have a monstrous or fantastical appearance in order to keep evil spirits away!<\/p>\n

You can also go up to the top of the cathedral if you want. La Piazza del Duomo is het grootste plein in heel Milaan. Naast de kathedraal, die je zal hebben herkend, staat het niet te missen Koninklijk Paleis aan de linkerkant van de kathedraal (met je rug naar de Duomo). En naast de Arengario nu gebruikt als een museum: het Museum van de 20e eeuw.
\nOm de majestueze Duomo in al haar te pracht te bewonderen ga je naar de rand van het plein en kijk je recht voor je uit. Er is bijna 600 jaar over de bouw gegaan. Italianen gebruiken de uitdrukking\u201diets ziet eruit als de fabriek van de Duomo\u201d om te verwijzen naar iets dat nooit tot voltooiing komt. Er zijn meer dan 3000 torens met standbeelden op, de basis van de Madonnina is meer dan 100 meter hoog en de Madonnina zelf is bijna 5 meter hoog! Zoals in al dit soort bouwwerken waart er ook rond deze kathedraal een legende. Op een gegeven winternacht lag de hertog van Milaan Gian Galeazzo Visconti in zijn comfortabele prinselijke bed en verscheen hem de duivel in hoogsteigen persoon in een droom! De duivel vertelde de hertog dat als hij niet naar de hel wilde worden gesleept, hij onmiddellijk met de bouw van een grote kathedraal moest beginnen met veel beelden van de duivel. Gian Galeazzo beloofde dat, de duivel verdween en de volgende dag ontbood de hertog al zijn ingenieurs en architecten om op de hoogte te brengen van zijn project: een geweldig bouwwerk met veel beelden van de duivel. Vandaag de dag kan u nog steeds 96 stenen waterspuwers bewonderen die het uiterlijk van de duivel hebben. Het was weliswaar gebruikelijk in de tijd om dergelijke sculpturen een monsterlijk gelaat te geven om kwade geesten weg te houden. Aqu\u00ed estamos, en la plaza m\u00e1s grande de todo Mil\u00e1n. Adem\u00e1s de la catedral, que seguramente habr\u00e1s reconocido, no te pierdas el hermoso Palacio Real, a la izquierda de la catedral, y al lado, el Palazzo del Arengario, que hoy en d\u00eda se utiliza como museo, el Museo del ‘900 o museo del siglo XX.

\nSer\u00e1 mejor que no empieces a contar las agujas y sus estatuas: \u00a1hay m\u00e1s de 3.000 de ellas! \u00a1Solo piensa que la base de la estatua dorada de Madonnina est\u00e1 a m\u00e1s de 100 metros sobre el suelo, y la Madonnina en realidad tiene casi 5 metros de altura! Como con todos los grandes proyectos de construcci\u00f3n, la catedral est\u00e1 acompa\u00f1ada de una leyenda, una historia que tambi\u00e9n da un poco de miedo. Una noche de invierno, el duque de Mil\u00e1n Gian Galeazzo Visconti estaba descansando en su c\u00f3moda y principesca cama cuando el mismo diablo se le apareci\u00f3 en un sue\u00f1o. El diablo le dijo al duque que, si no quer\u00eda ser arrastrado al infierno, \u00a1deber\u00eda comenzar de inmediato la construcci\u00f3n de una gran catedral que, sin embargo, ten\u00eda que presentar muchas im\u00e1genes del demonio! Gian Galeazzo prometi\u00f3 hacerlo, y el diablo desapareci\u00f3.
\nAl d\u00eda siguiente, el duque llam\u00f3 a todos sus ingenieros y arquitectos y les revel\u00f3 su proyecto: una gran construcci\u00f3n con muchas im\u00e1genes del diablo. De hecho, hoy puedes admirar 96 g\u00e1rgolas de piedra que se parecen al demonio … \u00a1En realidad era normal que tales esculturas tuvieran una apariencia monstruosa o fant\u00e1stica para mantener alejados a los esp\u00edritus malignos!
\nTambi\u00e9n puedes subir a la cima de la catedral si quieres.
