Canneto Pavese (Caneed in dialetto oltrepadano) \u00e8 un comune italiano di 1 301 abitanti[1] della provincia di Pavia in Lombardia. Si trova sulle colline dell’Oltrep\u00f2 Pavese, tra le valli Versa e Scuropasso, in posizione dominante rispetto alle cittadine di Broni e Stradella. Con i comuni di Montescano e Castana, forma l’Unione dei Comuni di Prima Collina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Storia
Fin dall’epoca longobarda il territorio fu una pertinenza monastica dell’abbazia di San Colombano di Bobbio, fondata nel 614 dall’abate San Colombano, i territori sono inseriti nei possedimenti del grande feudo reale ed imperiale monastico di Bobbio, il territorio di Cigognola faceva parte della grande domusculta della corte di Auliano di Monte Acuto (Mont\u00f9 Beccaria).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Il territorio dell’attuale comune di Canneto Pavese comprende numerosi centri che ebbero in passato l’autonomia comunale e spesso una storia non oscura: Canneto, Beria, Vigalone, Monteveneroso e soprattutto Mont\u00f9 de’ Gabbi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vigalone \u00e8 citato nel diploma del 1164 con cui Federico I concede a Pavia il predominio sulla zona; e forse anche Monteveneroso (che appare come Monterosus). Nell’elenco delle terre pavesi del 1250 compaiono ormai tutti questi centri. Quello pi\u00f9 importante, di cui gli altri seguirono le sorti, era Mont\u00f9 de Gabbi, dove Mont\u00f9 sta per Monte Acuto; era detto anche Montu\u00e8 ovvero Monte Acutello. Esso era noto gi\u00e0 nell’XI secolo. Appartenne ai Gabbi fino al XV secolo, poi probabilmente il potere fu usurpato dai Beccaria, che lo unirono al feudo di Broni; nelle successive spartizioni di questo feudo, non \u00e8 chiara la sorte; comunque nel 1528 giunse ai Valperga e nel secolo successivo ai Candiani di Pavia, divenuti poi Rota Candiani. Tra i comuni del feudo, Canneto, sede della parrocchia, appare gi\u00e0 nel XVII secolo essere aggregato a Mont\u00f9 de’ Gabbi. Nel secolo successivo Biria e Vigalone mantengono l’autonomia, ma prima del 1783 sono anch’essi uniti a Mont\u00f9. Rimane autonomo Monteveneroso, che sar\u00e0 unito a Mont\u00f9 solo all’inizio del secolo successivo. Notiamo che al feudo di Mont\u00f9 de’ Gabbi apparteneva anche Torre Sacchetti, anch’esso un piccolo comune che fu poi in gran parte unito a Stradella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Soltanto nel 1885 il comune di Mont\u00f9 de’ Gabbi ricevette il nuovo nome di Canneto Pavese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Monumenti e luoghi di interesse
Durante gli anni 20′ il castello di Mont\u00f9 dei Gabbi, propriet\u00e0 dei Rota Candiani, che dominava l’abitato di Mont\u00f9, fu venduto ad altri, e quasi completamente demolito. Questo castello ospit\u00f2 anche Carolina Amalia di Brunswick moglie di Giorgio IV del Regno Unito nel 1815.

Canneto Pavese (Caneed in Oltrep\u00f2 Pavese dialect) is an Italian municipality of 1,301 inhabitants[1] in the province of Pavia in Lombardy. History<\/strong> The territory of today’s municipality of Canneto Pavese includes numerous centres that had municipal autonomy in the past and often a not obscure history: Canneto, Beria, Vigalone, Monteveneroso and above all Mont\u00f9 de’ Gabbi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Vigalone is mentioned in the diploma of 1164 with which Frederick I granted Pavia dominion over the area; and perhaps also Monteveneroso (which appears as Monterosus). All of these centres now appear in the list of Pavia’s lands of 1250. The most important one, whose fate the others followed, was Mont\u00f9 de Gabbi, where Mont\u00f9 stands for Monte Acuto; it was also called Montu\u00e8 or Monte Acutello. It was already known in the 11th century. It belonged to the Gabbi family until the 15th century, then the power was probably usurped by the Beccarias, who united it with the fief of Broni; in the subsequent divisions of this fief, its fate is unclear; however, in 1528 it came to the Valperga family and in the following century to the Candiani of Pavia, who later became Rota Candiani. Among the municipalities of the fief, Canneto, seat of the parish, appears already in the 17th century to be aggregated to Mont\u00f9 de’ Gabbi. In the following century Biria and Vigalone maintained their autonomy, but before 1783 they too were united to Mont\u00f9. Monteveneroso remained autonomous and was only united to Mont\u00f9 at the beginning of the following century. We note that the fief of Mont\u00f9 de’ Gabbi also included Torre Sacchetti, also a small municipality that was later largely united with Stradella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Only in 1885 did the municipality of Mont\u00f9 de’ Gabbi receive the new name of Canneto Pavese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monuments and places of interest<\/strong>
Since Lombard times, the territory was a monastic appurtenance of the abbey of San Colombano di Bobbio, founded in 614 by the abbot San Colombano, the territories are included in the possessions of the great royal and imperial monastic fief of Bobbio, the territory of Cigognola was part of the great domusculta of the court of Auliano di Monte Acuto (Mont\u00f9 Beccaria).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the 1920s, the castle of Mont\u00f9 dei Gabbi, owned by the Rota Candiani family, which dominated the village of Mont\u00f9, was sold to others and almost completely demolished. This castle also hosted Carolina Amalia of Brunswick, wife of George IV of the United Kingdom in 1815.
