Costruito tra il 1887 e il 1890 per volere del Regno d’Italia, equipaggiato con due cannoni Krupp lunghi 14 metri e una cupola in ghisa, venne impiegato come batteria bassa per affrontare una possibile rappresaglia navale direttamente dall’isola. Dopo la Seconda Guerra Mondiale fu convertito in carcere militare e successivamente abbandonato.
