The church of San Jacopo was originally in origin was the monastic church and subsequently regular rectory, originally entitled, together with the monastery, to San Mamiliano Bishop, as reported by the inscription on the entrance portal of the church. The existence of the Church is certainly documented starting from the first half of the thousand hundred, in particular since 1134. Subsequently the church and the monastery are in use to the hermitans belonging to the order of Sant’Agostino, while the dedication to San Jacopo appears in 1424 . After passing privately in 1867, today the church of San Jacopo in Lupeta is state -owned property. The building is still existing in Romanesque forms, with a tau -shaped plan and orientation of the apse east.
