La sua posizione strategica ha costituito sempre un valido supporto per l&#8217;incolumit\u00e0 di Pisa impegnata nei secoli in lotte sanguinose contro i fiorentini.<\/h4>\n<p>Nel 1402, dopo la conquista di Pisa da parte dei fiorentini, la rocca fu distrutta per evitare che tornasse ad essere una minaccia. Il nucleo pi\u00f9 antico, risalente all&#8217;VIII secolo, \u00e8 costruito in pietra verrucana: la struttura primaria \u00e8 funzionale, con all&#8217;interno caserme e piazze d&#8217;armi, magazzini, una cisterna ed una chiesa. Its strategic position has always contributed to the safety of Pisa, which for centuries fought bloody battles against the florentines.<\/h4>\n<p>In 1402, after the florentine conquest of Pisa, the stronghold was destroyed to avoid its becoming a threat again. Its most ancient part, dating from the 8th century, is built in Verruca stone, and the main structure is functional thanks to barracks, parade grounds, stores, a cistern and church.
