The archibishop Scarlatti had it built in the mid-14th century, together with a convent, which was erected on the foundations of an ancient castle. The church dedicated to San Jacopo contains a very beautiful polyptych of a “Madonna Enthroned with Child and four Saints” by Cecco di Pietro. Even more interesting is the majestic Medici Villa, erected according to Lorenzo il Magnifico’s wish.<\/p>\n
