La superficie del\u00a0ghiacciaio di Lares ammontava nel 2003 a 484 Ha.\u00a0 Purtroppo si \u00e8 pi\u00f9 che dimezzata rispetto alle stime di Julius Payer. Infatti a met\u00e0 dell’800 gli attribuiva un\u2019area di circa 1150 Ha. Nel 1925 la superficie si era ridotta a 635 Ha. Mentre nel 1960 ammontava a 60 Ha circa. Il ghiacciaio di Lares occupa un pendio piuttosto regolare. In alcuni settori la sua superficie \u00e8 solcata da profondi crepacci, come quelli a valle del Corno di Cavento. Fino a pochi anni fa, la porzione meridionale si collegava con il Ghiacciaio di Niscli attraverso un ripido scivolo ghiacciato ora completamente interrotto. Secondo le stime del comitato glaciologico della SAT, il ghiacciaio ha perso fra il 1991 e il 1997 un volume di quasi 27 milioni di metri cubi. Tale quantit\u00e0 \u00e8 pari a una perdita di spessore medio superiore ai 5 metri. La fronte si \u00e8 ritirata di circa 110 m in 11 anni (1993-2005).<\/p>\n

I ghiacciai trentini coprono oggi una superficie di circa 30 km2<\/sup> e si trovano nei principali gruppi montuosi, primo fra tutti il massiccio dell\u2019Adamello \u2013 Presanella che da solo ospita 48 ghiacciai.<\/p>\n

Nonostante a prima vista appaia immobilizzato dal gelo, il paesaggio glaciale \u00e8 in continuo movimento e costante evoluzione. Ancor pi\u00f9 oggi, a causa dei cambiamenti climatici che hanno innescato il ritiro inesorabile e rapidissimo delle fronti glaciali.<\/p>\n

L\u2019estensione glaciale \u00e8 ovunque in sensibile diminuzione. Alcuni fra i pi\u00f9 grandi ghiacciai hanno perso in poco pi\u00f9 di 40 anni fino al 42% della superficie. Per altri le riduzioni sono state minori, come per il Ghiacciaio dell\u2019Adamello.<\/p>\n

Gli studi sui ghiacciai dell\u2019Adamello si sono sviluppati con una certa sistematicit\u00e0 dagli anni \u201820 del secolo scorso, ma gi\u00e0 dal 1865 alcuni di essi furono accuratamente rappresentati in una dettagliata carta realizzata dal Payer, primo conquistatore della Cima Adamello nonch\u00e9 attento rilevatore glaciologico.<\/p>\n

The surface of the Lares glacier amounted to 484 Ha in 2003 and was more than halved compared to Julius Payer estimates of the mid-1800s, which gave it an area of \u200b\u200babout 1150 Ha. In 1925 the area had shrunk to 635 Ha, while in 1960 it was about 60 Ha. It occupies a rather regular slope and in some sectors its surface is crossed by deep crevasses, like those downstream of the Corno di Cavento. Until a few years ago, the southern portion connected with the Niscli Glacier through a steep, frozen, now completely interrupted slide. According to the estimates of the SAT glaciological committee, the glacier lost between 1991 and 1997 a volume of almost 27 million cubic meters equal to a loss of average thickness of more than 5 meters. The front retreated around 110 m in 11 years (1993-2005).<\/p>\n
Today the Trentino glaciers cover an area of \u200b\u200babout 30 km2 and are located in the main mountain ranges, first of all the Adamello – Presanella massif which alone hosts 48 glaciers.<\/p>\n
Although at first glance it appears to be immobilized by frost, the glacial landscape is in continuous movement and constant evolution. Even more so today, due to the climatic changes that triggered the inexorable and very rapid withdrawal of the glacial front.<\/p>\n
The glacial extension is everywhere in a significant decrease. Some of the largest glaciers have lost in just over 40 years up to 42% of the surface, for others the reductions have been smaller, as for the Adamello Glacier.<\/p>\n
Studies on the Adamello glaciers have developed with a certain systematicity since the 1920s, but as early as 1865 some of them were accurately represented in a detailed paper made by Payer, the first conqueror of Cima Adamello, as well as a careful glaciological detector.<\/p>\n

Die Oberfl\u00e4che des Gletschers von Lares betrug im Jahr 2003 noch 484 Hektar, doch leider hat sie sich nach den Sch\u00e4tzungen von Julios Payer mehr als halbiert. Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts bedeckte der Gletscher noch etwa 1150 Hektar; 1925 hatte sich die Oberfl\u00e4che auf 635 Hektar reduziert, w\u00e4hrend sie 1960 nur noch 60 Hektar betrug. Der Gletscher von Lares hat eine ziemlich regelm\u00e4\u00dfige Neigung. An einigen Stellen ist die Oberfl\u00e4che von Gletscherspalten gesl\u00e4umt, etwa im Tal der Corno di Cavento. Bis vor einigen Jahren war der Gletscher vom Gletscher von Niscii nur durch eine steile Eisrutsche getrennt, welche heute vollst\u00e4ndig unterbrochen ist. Nach Sch\u00e4tzungen des glaziologischen Komittees der SAT hat der Gletscher zwischen 1991 und 1997 ein Volumen von beinahe 27 Millionen Kubikmetern verloren. Diese Menge entspricht einem mittleren R\u00fcckgang der Dicke von 5 Metern. Die Zunge ist in 11 Jahren (1993-2005) um cirka 110 Meter zur\u00fcckgegangen.<\/p>\n
Die Gletscher des Trentino bedecken heute eine Oberfl\u00e4che von ca. 30 km2 und befinden sich in den gr\u00f6\u00dften Berggruppen, darunter vor allem im Adamello-Presanella; hier alleine befinden sich 48 Gletscher.<\/p>\n
Die Gletscherfl\u00e4che befindet sich \u00fcberall in einer Phase starken R\u00fcckgangs, im Vergleich zur Vergangenheit. Einige der gr\u00f6\u00dften Gletscher haben in etwas mehr als 40 Jahren bis zu 42% ihrer Oberfl\u00e4che eingeb\u00fc\u00dft, bei anderen war der R\u00fcckgang etwas schw\u00e4cher, etwa beim Gletscher von Adamello.<\/p>\n
Die Studien der Gletscher vom Adamello wurden mit einer gewissen Systematik durchgef\u00fchrt, beginnend mit den 20er Jahren des vergangenen Jahrhudnerts. Bereits seit 1865 wurden einige von ihnen penibel in einer detaillierten Karte eingetragen, die von Payer – dem Erstbesteiger des Adamello Gipfels und Glaziologen – erstellt wurde.<\/p>\n
