Originated by glacial erosion, it is surrounded by moraines and accumulations of debris. It has a rhombus shape with wet shores dotted with buttercups and cotton grasses. Its waters, in which the Cima Presanella is reflected majestically, host numerous tadpoles and frogs in late summer. On the surface there are insects (Gerridi) and several dragonflies. While in the waters it is possible to observe the tufts of aquatic moss (Fontinalis antipyretica), the elongated leaves of Sparganium angustifolium and verdant masses of filamentous algae. Continuing towards Malga Germenega Alta, the second lake appears on the left. Smaller, circular in shape elongated towards the valley, with rocky banks and modest depth. The lake is surrounded by cotton grasses alternated with mountain pines, junipers and rhododendrons. In the waters live various aquatic insects such as beetles and tricoptera and everywhere tadpoles and small frogs. Having now arrived in view of the Malga Germenega Alta, out of the trees, there are some wet areas and the third small lake less than a meter deep. The fourth lake, fed by three active emissaries, is located at 2080 m. The landscape is dominated by alpine pastures and the surrounding peaks.
