La storia di Camaldoli ha inizio pochi anni dopo la fatidica ricorrenza del Mille ed \u00e8 legata alla figura di San Romualdo, monaco ravennate che predic\u00f2 la Regola di San Benedetto. In viaggio verso la Badia di Santa Trinit\u00e0, situata alla pendici del Pratomagno, fece sosta attorno al 1012 in una radura non lontana dal crinale appenninico. L\u00ec, affascinato dalla solitaria bellezza della foresta e stimolato dalla concreta possibilit\u00e0 di edificare un ricovero per i pellegrini e i viandanti che frequentavano la zona, decise di edificarvi un eremo. L\u2019Eremo fu consacrato nel 1027; nel 1080 l\u2019ospizio divenne il Monastero. Camaldoli’s story begins a few years after the fateful anniversary of the year 1000 and is associated with the figure of San Romualdo, a monk from Ravenna who preached the Rule of San Benedetto. On his way to the Badia di Santa Trinit\u00e0, located on the slopes of Pratomagno, he took a break around 1012 in a clearing not far from the Apennine ridge. There, fascinated by the solitary beauty of the forest and stimulated by the concrete possibility of building a refuge for pilgrims and travellers who frequented the area, he decided to build a hermitage there. The hermitage was consecrated in 1027; in 1080 the hospice became the monastery.
