Il paese – su una breve dorsale rilevata in un paesaggio dove si alternano prati, boschi cedui e castagneti – conserva una torre quadrangolare, residuo di un castello dell\u2019XI secolo. La torre domina la boscosa valle del torrente Archiano, che dal Passo dei Mandrioli scende fino a Bibbiena. L\u2019origine di Serravalle \u00e8 da ricercare nella sua posizione dominante e la sua vicinanza al crocevia delle strade che portano a Badia Prataglia e a Camaldoli. Il vecchio castello doveva servire da sentinella. The village – on a short ridge in a landscape where meadows, coppice and chestnut woods is alternating – retains a quadrangular tower, the remains of an 11th century castle. The tower dominates the wooded valley of the Archiano stream, which descends from the Passo dei Mandrioli to Bibbiena. The origin of Serravalle is to be found in its dominant position and its proximity to the crossroads between Badia Prataglia and Camaldoli. The old castle was to serve as a sentry.
