\nWith your back to the Certosa, walk along the path (Via della Certosa) that runs along the walls of the gardens and bends to the left (0.15KM)<\/p>\n

\nContinue left along the driveway (Via della Certosa) ATTENTION to the anti-traffic poles<\/p>\n

\nContinue STRAIGHT at the intersection on via B. Buzzi. BEWARE of crossing traffic<\/p>\n

\nKeep right to stay on Via B. Buozzi<\/p>\n

\nKeep left leaving via Buozzi. Take the dirt path before crossing the bridge. The Zambra stream remains on your SX<\/p>\n

\nCross the stream at the ford (generally dry, but be careful). Continue along the embankment on a dirt road for 800m, but now the Zambra stream is on the DX<\/p>\n

\nAt the end of the path on the embankment, go around the anti-traffic poles. Take the dirt road on the left that goes up beyond a barrier (if it is closed you can go around it on the right). ATTENTION: path with incoherent ground<\/p>\n

\nThe panorama opens up on the first wide dirt curve. You can make a short detour (by saddle or on foot for 400m) to discover the Torre di Caprona (or Torre degli Uppezinghi). After your exploration and enjoying the view over the Arno and Pisa, resume the climb from here.<\/p>\n

\nAfter 1.5km of uphill on incoherent terrain often in the shade of holm oaks, you reach Focetta. Recommended site for a break (take a breath and drink !!). Then continue uphill taking the middle dirt road on your left leaving the pylon on your right (Fonte Orsini local road). Follow the signs for “Verruca”<\/p>\n

\nLeft curve at the first corner you find: take the minor path on your left. The slope becomes gentler. Stay on this trail for 500m as it climbs two hairpin bends<\/p>\n

\nLeft turn at the third bend: leave the path you came up from and take the one on your left. The path widens and continues now on a slight slope and then goes down slightly. Stay on this trail for 2.2km as it crosses hiking trails along the side of the mountain. The view opens onto Valgraziosa and Monte Serra<\/p>\n

\nRight turn uphill at the confluence with the road coming down from your right. This is a detour (total 2.6KM) strongly recommended to go and discover the Fortezza della Verruca (on the highest point of the route) You will return to this point after the visit and continue downhill on the dirt road that goes down in front of you. If you want to skip the Fortress, you can go straight ahead and skip to step (15.).<\/p>\n

\nContinue STRAIGHT uphill: Once you reach a large ledge (Prato a Ceccottino) continue along the path that points to the ruins of the fortress. ATTENTION: You will have to leave the bicycle at a certain point of the climb and continue on foot to enter the bastion. Make sure you hallucinate the bike before moving off for another 400m<\/p>\n

\nFortezza della Verruca: enjoy the view over Pisa and the Tyrrhenian coast, reading the insights on the Tuscany Selfguided APP. At the end of the visit, retrace the descent back on foot and in the saddle to the point already described in (12.) From here the descent begins for 1.2Km<\/p>\n

\nWATER point on the DX. At a canal crossing and slope change you can take advantage of a water supply coming from a catchment. From here go straight on staying on the same dirt road that goes up briefly.<\/p>\n

\nContinue STRAIGHT downhill. Now the road is wider and runs alongside some houses. Below you the village of Montemagno ATTENTION: drainage channels along the entire stretch. And crossing Trekking paths.<\/p>\n

\nContinue STRAIGHT downhill at a dirt curve that leads back to Montemagno. Beautiful rock formations of Verrucano on this stretch.<\/p>\n

\nRight turn uphill. After some cypresses on your left, leave the dirt road to continue on the grassy path to the fence of a house.<\/p>\n

La pendenza si fa pi\u00f9 dolce. Il sentiero si allarga e prosegue adesso in falsopiano e poi scende leggermente. Rimani su questo sentiero per 2,2Km mentre incrocia sentieri trekking lungo il fianco del monte. Questa \u00e8 una deviazione (tot 2,6KM) fortemente consigliata per andare a scoprire la Fortezza della Verruca (sul punto pi\u00f9 alto del percorso) Ritornerai a questo punto dopo la visita e proseguirai in discesa sulla strada sterrata che scende di fronte a te.
