From the town of Vicopisano, an ancient river port on the walled Arno, one can explore the foothills of Monte Pisano with satisfaction through forest roads and some paths<\/p>\n","rb_track_section":"
1. (0-6Km) With the Parish Church of Santa Maria in Vicopisano behind you, and in front of the Circolo Ortaccio, turn LEFT and cross a small bridge on the road that leads to the cemetery. After approx. 200m turn left. START OF THE CLIMB: 6km approx (first half on asphalt, then dirt)<\/p>\n
(*) At the end of the climb we will find ourselves in Prato Ceccottino, where numerous paths converge. From here a nice downhill path will start. Those who want to can take advantage of a visit to the Rocca della Verruca above (12th century Pisan fortress – ruins) in a panoramic position along the entire route. The detour to get to know the Verruca is highly recommended. It will be the highest point of the route (leave the bike to walk the last 400m) but it will repay us for the effort made so far with a wonderful view over the plain of Pisa, the Arno river and the Tyrrhenian coast. Finally, you return to the previous deviation point to continue the descent towards “La Focetta”<\/p>\n
2. (6-7,5Km) START OF DESCENT! ATTENTION: technical sections. The descent begins on an easy path. However, there are some sections with a central moat that become technical. Consider getting off and walking! The descent ends in a dirt clearing characterized by a high pylon. We are in La Focetta<\/p>\n
3. (7,5-9Km) THE DESCENT CONTINUES! Now continue on a wider and more fun dirt road (Fonte Orsini local road). In about 1.5km we pass near the Torre di Caprona (* PARKING AND DIVERSION POSSIBLE on foot!) And finally to a barrier that obstructs access to vehicles on this road<\/p>\n
4. (9-10Km) After passing the barrier, turn LEFT to enter the town of Caprona. At the intersection with the Vicarese state road (roundabout), turn LEFT again and after a while we find a stretch of cycle path on the RIGHT (near the pedestrian traffic light)<\/p>\n
5. (10-14Km) We cover a nice stretch of cycle path crossing Uliveto Terme. Here the cycle path stops (Parco Termale di Uliveto) for about 500m and then resumes past the Thermal Park, on the left of the Vicarese (Restaurant \u201cda Cinotto\u201d) ATTENTION! Crossing the state road. Then continue along the cycle path that enters the village of Noce for a good stretch; START OF THE CLIMB!<\/p>\n
6. (14-16Km) We turn RIGHT near the crossing of a ditch on the road that immediately begins to climb narrow and steep on the hairpin bends in the midst of olive groves and scattered houses. In 2Km of hard climb we are on the “Tagliata di Noce”. On this one at the top we rest before turning RIGHT<\/p>\n
7. (16-17Km) We continue to the RIGHT on a dirt road with ups and downs up to Loc. Campo dei Lupi where we cross the CAI trail marker n.00 and other marked trails.<\/p>\n
8. (17-20Km) We turn LEFT on the dirt road that goes around the Campo dei Lupi area to keep the dirt road downhill that runs along the Rio Grande and in about 3 km it leads us through the Via dei Molini to the starting point in Vicopisano. 1. <\/span><\/span>(<\/span><\/span>0-6Km)<\/span><\/span><\/b> Con la Pieve di SantaMaria in Vicopisano alle spalle,e <\/span><\/span>di fronte al Circolo Ortaccio<\/span><\/span><\/b>, curvare a SINISTRA ed oltrepassare un ponticello sulla strada che porta al cimitero. Dopo 200m ca. svoltare <\/span><\/span>a SINISTRA. INIZIO SALITA: <\/span><\/span> 6Km ca<\/span><\/span><\/b> <\/i>(prima<\/i><\/span><\/span> met\u00e0 su asfalto, <\/i><\/span><\/span>poi <\/i><\/span><\/span>sterrato)<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n (*) A fine salita ci troveremo a Prato Ceccottino, dove convergono numerosi sentieri. Da qui avr\u00e0 inizio un bel percorso in discesa. Chi vuole pu\u00f2 approfittare per la visita della soprastante Rocca della Verruca (Fortezza pisana del XII sec.- rovine) in posizione panoramica su tutto il percorso. <\/span><\/span>La deviazione per andare a conoscere la Verruca \u00e8 altamente consigliata. Sar\u00e0 il punto pi\u00f9 elevato del percorso (lasciare la bici per percorrere a piedi gli ultimi 400m) ma ci ripagher\u00e0 della fatica compiuta fin qui con una stupenda visuale sulla piana di Pisa, il corso dell\u2019Arno e la costa tirrenica. Si ritorna infine al punto di deviazione precedente per proseguire la discesa <\/span><\/span>in direzione \u201cLa Focetta\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n 2. (6-7,5Km) INIZIO DISCESA! ATTENZIONE: tratti tecnici. <\/span><\/span><\/b>Si inizia la discesa su sentiero agevole.<\/span><\/span> Tuttavia esistono alcuni tratti con fossato centrale che diventano tecnici. Valutare la possibilit\u00e0 di scendere e camminare!<\/span><\/span><\/b> La discesa ha termine in uno spiazzo sterrato caratterizzato da un alto traliccio. Siamo a<\/span><\/span> La Focetta<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n 3. <\/span><\/span>(7,5-9Km) LA DISCESA CONTINUA! <\/span><\/span><\/b>SI prosegue adesso su sterrato pi\u00f9 ampio e divertente <\/span><\/span>(Strada vicinale Fonte Orsini).<\/span><\/span> In circa 1,5Km passiamo nei pressi della<\/span><\/span> Torre di Caprona (* <\/span><\/span>S<\/span><\/span>OSTA E DEVIAZIONE POSSIBILI <\/span><\/span>a piedi<\/span><\/span>!) <\/span><\/span><\/b>ed infine ad una sbarra che ostruisce l\u2019accesso ai veicoli su questa strada<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 4. (9-10Km)<\/span><\/span><\/b> Oltrepassata la sbarra si svolta a SINISTRA<\/span><\/span><\/b>per entrare nell\u2019abitato di <\/span><\/span>Caprona<\/span><\/span><\/b>. All\u2019incrocio con la statale Vicarese (rotonda) si <\/span><\/span>svolta ancora a SINISTRA<\/span><\/span><\/b> e dopo poco troviamo un tratto di <\/span><\/span>ciclabile sulla DESTRA (<\/span><\/span><\/b>nei pressi del semaforo pedonale)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 5. <\/span><\/span>(10-1<\/span><\/span>4<\/span><\/span>Km)<\/span><\/span><\/b> P<\/span><\/span>ercorriamo un bel tratto <\/span><\/span>di ciclabile<\/span><\/span> attraversando Uliveto Terme. Qui la ciclabile si interrompe <\/span><\/span>(Parco Termale di Uliveto<\/span><\/span><\/b>) per circa 500m per poi riprendere passato il Parco Termale, sulla sinistra della Vicarese <\/span><\/span>(Ristorante \u201cda Cinotto\u201d) <\/i><\/span><\/span> ATTENZIONE! Attraversamento della statale. <\/span><\/span><\/b>Si prosegue <\/span><\/span>poi <\/span><\/span>su di un bel tratto la ciclabile che <\/span><\/span>entra ne<\/span><\/span>l borgo di Noce; <\/span><\/span>INIZIO SALITA!<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n 6. (1<\/span><\/span>4<\/span><\/span>–<\/span><\/span>16<\/span><\/span>Km) <\/span><\/span>Curviamo a DESTRA<\/span><\/span><\/b> nei pressi dell\u2019atrtaversamento di un fossato su strada che immediatamente <\/span><\/span>comincia a salire stretta e ripida <\/span><\/span><\/b>sui tornanti in mezzo ad uliveti e case sparse. In 2Km di dura salita siamo sulla \u201cTagliata di Noce\u201d. SU questa in cima ci riposiamo prima di curvare a DESTRA<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 7. (16-17Km) <\/span><\/span><\/b>Proseguiamo a DESTRA su strada sterrata in saliscendi fino a Loc. <\/span><\/span>Campo dei Lupi <\/span><\/span><\/b>dove incrociamo il segnavia CAI n.00 ed altri sentieri segnati.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 8.<\/span><\/span>(17-20Km) Curviamo a SINISTRA <\/span><\/span><\/b>sullo sterrato che aggira la Localit\u00e0 Campo dei Lupi per mantenere lo sterrato in discesa che costeggia il Rio Grande ed in circa 3 Km ci conduce attraverso la <\/span><\/span>Via dei Molini<\/span><\/span><\/b> al punto di partenza in <\/span><\/span>Vicopisano. ATTENZIONE: Guado dopo circa 2Km di discesa in Loc. Molino di
