Il borgo \u00e8 caratterizzato da portali, passaggi voltati, finestre e gradini in pietra arenaria, gallerie profonde.<\/p>\n

Il nome deriva dal fatto che il borgo ospitava molte taverne, essendo situato lungo la via del Sale; la Chiesa di San Rocco, risalente al 1500, fu fatta costruire in origine come oratorio, poi fu dichiarata parrocchia.<\/p>\n

Tavernelle si situa lungo un’unica strada dove si affacciano edifici in maggioranza quattrocenteschi. The village is characterized by portals, vaulted passages, sandstone windows and steps, deep galleries.<\/p>\n

The name derives from the fact that the village housed many taverns, being located along the Via del Sale; the Church of San Rocco, dating back to 1500, was originally built as an oratory, then it was declared a parish.<\/p>\n

Tavernelle is located along a single road overlooked by buildings mostly from the 15th century. La frazione \u00e8 un esempio ben conservato di architettura medievale<\/a> dell’alta Lunigiana, con costruzioni “a galleria”, ma con origini che probabilmente risalgono all’et\u00e0 del bronzo<\/a>. Il paese \u00e8 diventato celebre nel 1975<\/a> quando venne rinvenuta l’omonima statua stele<\/a>, una delle pi\u00f9 integre e belle della Lunigiana<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The hamlet is a well-preserved example of medieval architecture of the upper Lunigiana, with “gallery” constructions, but with origins that probably date back to the Bronze Age. The town became famous in 1975 when the homonymous stele statue was found, one of the most intact and beautiful in Lunigiana.<\/p>\n

L’Agriturismo:<\/h3>\n

E\u2019 qui che sorge l\u2019agriturismo della famiglia Maffei:\u00a0 a far da vedetta, spunta una torre di avvistamento costruita nel 1000 d.C. che fu poi ampliata in rocca di difesa nel XIII secolo. Nel XVIII secolo venne infine elevata a torre campanaria ed abbazia. Dopo anni di abbandono, grazie all\u2019idea e all\u2019impegno di Mario Maffei, nel 1995 il monastero ha ritrovato il suo antico splendore, e oggi la sua imponenza si erge su oltre 600 ettari di riserva. Il posto ideale per chi desidera una vacanza o week-end relax, a contatto con la natura, la storia e il buon cibo.<\/p>\n

Escursioni:<\/h3>\n

Da qui si possono effettuare escursioni a cavallo, trekking, e bicicletta in modalit\u00e0 Selfguided seguendo la nostra APP oppure accompagnati da Guide Ambientali. Inoltre si possono raccogliere frutti di stagione come fragoline di bosco, mirtilli, castagne e funghi. Saranno frequenti gli incontri con gli animali dell\u2019azienda come le mucche e le pecore allevate allo stato brado.<\/p>\n

We are in the heart of Lunigiana<\/strong>, in Apella<\/strong>, near Licciana Nardi, in the province of Massa Carrara, north Tuscany<\/strong>. We are 660m above sea level, surrounded by the ancient chestnut woods of the Tuscan-Emilian National Apennine Park<\/strong>, in an area where, at one time, the undisputed masters of the territory were the Malaspina. Here, a special environment and unspoilt nature are combined with hospitality and kindness, values that have a long tradition in Lunigiana.<\/p>\n

We have everything you would normally expect from a great tourist accommodation structure.<\/strong> But there is more: a unique setting, which fully surrounds us, an untouched and intact landscape, where history merges with nature in an area which was recognised by UNESCO as a MAB (Man and the Biosphere) Reserve in May 2015<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This is where you will find us, Agriturismo<\/strong> Montagna Verde<\/strong>, and the farm of Mario Maffei <\/strong>and his family<\/strong>, overlooked by a watchtower built in 1000 BC. This was later expanded into a defensive fortress in the thirteenth century and in 1700 turned into a bell-tower and abbey. After years of being abandoned and neglected, thanks to the initial idea and commitment of Mario Maffei, in 1995 the monastery was restored to its former glory.<\/p>\n

Today it stands majestically overlooking 600 hectares of nature reserve, where visitors can enjoy excursions on horseback, hiking, and maybe pick seasonal fruits like wild strawberries, blueberries, chestnuts and mushrooms, either alone or with the help of expert guides.<\/p>\n

Almost certainly you will get to meet our cows and sheep who live free range in the area. It is a rural idyll, one which will enable guests to experience the spirit of the past and gain insight into the authenticity offered by Montagna Verde.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, you can choose to relax by our pool<\/strong>,\u00a0 before a delicious dinner prepared with local products<\/strong>, organic and healthy<\/strong>, grown by ourselves.<\/p>\n

Montagna Verde has accommodation in both the main Tower and in the restored medieval village of Apella, less than 800 metres from the former monastery as Albergo Diffuso<\/strong> (Diffused Hotel). There is a choice of apartments or rooms<\/strong>, all with private bathrooms<\/strong>, renovated in accordance with principles of sustainable construction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On request you can visit the workshop where we make honey<\/strong>, the buildings where we dry chestnuts<\/strong>, the Biopark<\/strong> and also our organic farm.<\/p>\n

Guests are welcomed by members of the Maffei family, who always aim to sustain the balance between home produced products and the restaurant<\/strong>, ensuring a Zero Km menu<\/strong> of the highest quality.<\/p>\n

We offer an ideal place for those who want a peaceful holiday in contact with the natural environment, history and good food. We enjoy an enviable position: a few kilometres away from the \u201cParco dei Cento Laghi\u201d (Park of the Hundred Lakes), the fabulous coast of the Cinque Terre<\/strong> and the Gulf of Poets<\/strong>, and the white beaches of Versilia.<\/strong> We are also less than an hour\u2019s drive from Lucca<\/strong>, Pisa<\/strong>,\u00a0Genova and Parma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
