{"type":"Feature","properties":{"id":457,"name":"Castello di Canossa &#8211; 530 mslm","description":"\n<p>La rude suggestione delle rovine del castello di Canossa, intrisa dell&#8217;eco del drammatico incontro tra il <strong>Papa Gregorio VII e Enrico IV<\/strong>, sorge da un picco di arenaria che domina scenografici calanchi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rappresenta il <strong>simbolo riconosciuto del grande potere conquistato tra X e XII dalla nobile stirpe dei Da Canossa e, pi\u00f9 in particolare, dalla contessa Matilde<\/strong>, che qui visse e che fu protagonista delle lotte tra impero e papato, tra cui spicca il celebre episodio dell&#8217;\u201dumiliazione\u201d dell&#8217;imperatore Enrico IV di fronte al papa Gregorio VII avvenuto appunto a Canossa nell&#8217;inverno del 1077.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il nucleo originario del castello sembra risalire al Xsec, e in seguito vennero erette due cinte murarie, il monastero e la <strong>chiesa di S. Apollonio<\/strong>, oltre a edifici di servizio e magazzini.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gli scavi archeologici iniziati fin dall&#8217;800 sotto la guida di Don Gaetano Chierici hanno permesso di ricostruire in via ipotetica il complesso canossano, del quale restano oggi pochi, ma suggestivi ruderi.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuttavia, nel corso degli ultimi anni, nuovi scavi stanno riportando progressivamente alla luce tracce importanti dell\u2019<strong>antico borgo<\/strong> che doveva sorgere ai piedi della rupe.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si visitano i ruderi del castello e il <strong>museo nazionale Naborre Campanini<\/strong> ricco di importanti testimonianze storiche e reperti archeologici tra cui una meravigliosa fonte battesimale.<\/p>\n","modified":"2020-05-20T14:55:55","color":"","icon":"","noDetails":false,"noInteraction":false,"taxonomy":{"webmapp_category":[34,16]},"accessibility":{"mobility":{"check":false,"description":""},"hearing":{"check":false,"description":""},"vision":{"check":false,"description":""},"cognitive":{"check":false,"description":""},"food":{"check":false,"description":""}},"related_url":["www.castellodicanossa.com"],"locale":"it","source":"https:\/\/sentierodeiducati.it\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/poi\/457","wp_edit":"http:\/\/sentierodeiducati.it\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=457&action=edit","translations":{"en":{"id":511,"name":"Canoss Castle and Village - 530 mslm","web":"https:\/\/sentierodeiducati.it\/\/canoss-castle-and-village-530-mslm\/?lang=en","source":"https:\/\/sentierodeiducati.it\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/poi\/511","description":"\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rough suggestiveness of the ruins of the Canossa castle, imbued with the echo of the dramatic encounter between the <\/span><b>Pope Gregory VII and Henry IV<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, rises out of a sandstone peak overlooking the Badlands.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the true <\/span><b>symbol of the great power achieved between the X and the XII cent. by the noble family Da Canossa and especially by Countess Matilde<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who lived here and held a key role in the ferocious contrasts between the Pope and the Empire, among which stands out the celebrated episode of the \u201chumiliation\u201d of Emperor Henry IV before Pope Gregory VII, which took place in Canossa in the winter of 1077.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The original core of the castle is likely date back to the 10 century and afterwards two rings of walls, the monastery and the <\/span><b>church St. Apollonius<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, besides the storehouses and granaries.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p>The archaeological excavations began at the end of the \u2018800s, under the supervision of a Don Gaetano Chierici, a Catholic priest and scientist-archaeologist. The excavations allowed to reconstruct at least hypothetically the Canossa settlement, of which today survive only few, but suggestive remains.<\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, over the last years, new excavations have been revealing significant traces of the <\/span><b>ancient village<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that must developed at the foot of the cliff.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, it is possible to visit both the Castle\u2019s ruins and the <\/span><b>National Museum Naborre Campanini<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that holds important documents and archaeological findings among which an extraordinary baptismal font.<\/span><\/p>\n"}},"web":"https:\/\/sentierodeiducati.it\/poi\/castello-di-canossa-530-mslm\/","addr:street":"","addr:housenumber":"","addr:postcode":"","addr:city":"Canossa","contact:phone":"+39 0522 877104","contact:email":"info@castellodicanossa.com","opening_hours":"","capacity":""},"geometry":{"type":"Point","coordinates":[10.4567908,44.5754381]}}
