Luni (Ortonovo fino al 20 aprile 2017) \u00e8 un comune della provincia di La Spezia il cui centro storico sorge su una delle colline che diradano verso la valle del fiume Magra, che ne rappresenta la sua porzione pianeggiante. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
La parte sicuramente pi\u00f9 interessante \u00e8 localit\u00e0 di Luni Scavi, detta anche Luni Antica, che ospita le rovine dell’antica colonia romana di Luna<\/strong> e il Museo archeologico nazionale<\/strong>, mete finali del sentiero dei Ducati che qui si incontra con la Via Francigena<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Il nome della citt\u00e0 – che ha anche originato l’appellativo di Luigiana a tutta la regione montuosa attorno lla vale del Magra\u00a0 – deriverebbe dalla sua consacrazione alla dea romana “Luna”, forse da parte di Marco Emilio Lepido, che partecip\u00f2 alla sua fondazione nel 177 ac dopo la sconfitta dei Liguri Apuani, o forse dalla forma a falce dell’allora porto cittadino, importante scalo commerciale sul mar Ligure sin da tempi antichissimi, ed utilizzato sotto il controllo <\/p>\n\n\n\n dei Liguri quale attracco per navi commerciali sia dagli Etruschi che dai Greci ai quali si deve la prima consacrazione del porto alla dea Selene (Luna per gli antichi Romani).<\/p>\n\n\n\n L’insediamento romano<\/strong>, sorto su un sito preesistente (probabilmente un emporio etrusco controllato dai Liguri<\/strong>) si svilupp\u00f2 per tutto il periodo repubblicano e dovette crescere in importanza a partire dal primo periodo imperiale grazie all’intensificarsi dello sfruttamento delle vicine cave di marmo. Un terremoto, avvenuto nel corso del IV secolo, pose fine alla citt\u00e0 imperiale. La zona fu comunque frequentata ancora in tempi successivi fino al quasi totale abbandono avvenuto intorno alla fine del IX secolo per sottrarsi alle continue incursioni saracene<\/strong>. Nell’860 Luni venne definitivamente distrutta dai Vichinghi, ovvero dai normanni danesi guidati dal re Hasting<\/strong>. La leggenda narra che i Vichinghi avessereo saccheggiato Luni per errore, ammirati dal suo splendore e sfarzo, credendo che si trattasse di Roma, era meta delle loro scorrerie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Da visitare nell’area archeologica<\/strong> diverse aree pubbliche della citt\u00e0 romana quali il foro, l’area capitolina e il decumano massimo, la Basilica civile, la curia e il cardo massimo, il Grande Tempio e alcune dimore signorili (Domus dei Mosaici, Domus Settentrionale, Domus degli Affreschi). An earthquake, which occurred during the fourth century, ended the imperial city. The area was however still frequented in later times until the almost total abandonment occurred around the end of the ninth century to escape the continuous <\/span>Saracen raids<\/b>. In 860 Luni was definitively destroyed by the “Vikings”, the <\/span>Danish Normans led by King Hasting<\/b>. Legend says that Vikings had looted Luni by mistake because, being admired by its splendor and pomp, they believed that it was Rome, destination of their raids.<\/span><\/p>\n\n To be visited in the <\/span>archaeological area<\/b> the several public areas of the Roman city such as the forum, the Capitoline area and the decumanus maximus, the civil Basilica, the curia and the thistle maximus, the Great Temple and some stately homes (Domus of the Mosaics, Northern Domus , Domus of the Frescoes). Lasciando il sagrato della chiesa parrocchiale di S. Maria Maddalena sulla destra, una passerella a volta conduce alla piazza dove si trova il settecentesco Palazzo Amati, di propriet\u00e0 del Comune e sede dell’Enoteca Regionale della Liguria<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Il cosiddetto “Palazzo Vescovile” era una dimora signorile costruita nella seconda met\u00e0 dell’XI secolo per volere del vescovo Enrico da Fucecchio. Divenne poi una fortezza militare dopo vari restauri avvenuti durante il dominio fiorentino e genovese, nel XV e XVI secolo. Dell’imponente struttura originale, rimane la grande torre merlata<\/strong>, con il coronamento di beccatelli in arenaria frutto della raffinata ristrutturazione fiorentina del 1468, e la pi\u00f9 piccola torre circolare munita invece di beccatelli in laterizio. Of the imposing original structure, the large <\/span>crenelated tower<\/b> remains, with the crowning of sandstone corbels resulting from the refined Florentine restructuring of 1468, and the smaller circular tower equipped with brick corbels instead.
