Il paese, riconoscibile da lontano grazie alla Torre del Palazzo Vescovile<\/strong> e al campanile della chiesa<\/strong> di Santa Maria Maddalena, si erge a 188 m e domina il paesaggio dalla cima della collina con una splendida vista sul mare, ora no pi\u00f9 lontano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il nucleo pi\u00f9 antico ha una struttura concentrica<\/strong>, segno che il borgo originale doveva riunirsi attorno a un edificio difensivo che non esiste pi\u00f9, probabilmente costruito tra il XII e il XIII secolo. Nella centrale via Dante (cos\u00ec chiamata in memoria del grande poeta che vi soggiorn\u00f2) si affacciano gli splendidi portali in arenaria e marmo<\/strong> di vari palazzi nobiliari. Lasciando il sagrato della chiesa parrocchiale di S. Maria Maddalena sulla destra, una passerella a volta conduce alla piazza dove si trova il settecentesco Palazzo Amati, di propriet\u00e0 del Comune e sede dell’Enoteca Regionale della Liguria<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il cosiddetto “Palazzo Vescovile” era una dimora signorile costruita nella seconda met\u00e0 dell’XI secolo per volere del vescovo Enrico da Fucecchio. Divenne poi una fortezza militare dopo vari restauri avvenuti durante il dominio fiorentino e genovese, nel XV e XVI secolo. Dell’imponente struttura originale, rimane la grande torre merlata<\/strong>, con il coronamento di beccatelli in arenaria frutto della raffinata ristrutturazione fiorentina del 1468, e la pi\u00f9 piccola torre circolare munita invece di beccatelli in laterizio. The village, recognizable from afar thanks to the Tower of the Bishop’s Palace and the bell tower of the church of Santa Maria Maddalena, stands at 188 m and dominates the landscape from the top of the hill with a splendid view of the sea, now not further away.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The <\/span>oldest nucleus has a concentric structure<\/b>, a sign that the original hamlet was to gather around a defensive building that no longer exists, probably built between the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. In the central Via Dante (so called in memory of the great poet who stayed there) the <\/span>splendid portals in sandstone and marble<\/b> of various noble palaces overlook. Leaving the parvis of the parish church of S. Maria Maddalena on the right, a vaulted walkway leads to the square where the eighteenth-century Palazzo Amati is located, owned by the Municipality and home to the <\/span>Regional Enoteca of Liguria<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The so-called “Palazzo Vescovile” was a stately home built in the second half of the 11th century by the will of Bishop Enrico da Fucecchio. It then became a military fortress after various renovations that took place during the Florentine and Genoese domination, in the 15th and 16th centuries. Of the imposing original structure, the large <\/span>crenelated tower<\/b> remains, with the crowning of sandstone corbels resulting from the refined Florentine restructuring of 1468, and the smaller circular tower equipped with brick corbels instead. Fosdinovo per secoli ha servito da porta di accesso alla regione della Lunigiana, essendo in un luogo dominante sulla pianura della Val di Magra e la citt\u00e0 di Luni. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abitato fin dalla preistoria<\/strong>, ebbe il suo periodo d’oro tra il XIV e il XVIII secolo, quando fu capitale di un marchesato indipendente e governato dal ramo pi\u00f9 importante della famiglia Malaspina dello Spino Fiorito, i cui marchesi erano vicari imperiali in Italia. Ci\u00f2 ha lasciato profonde tracce nell’architettura, nell’arte e nella cultura locali. Tra questi, il bellissimo Castello Malaspina<\/strong> – simbolo principale della citt\u00e0 \u2013 \u00e8 una delle fortezze pi\u00f9 belle e ben conservate della Lunigiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Fosdinovo potresti iniziare a percepire l’aria del mare, essendo una terra di confine tra la costa tirrenica e le montagne della Lunigiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fosdinovo for centuries has served as a gateway to the Lunigiana region, being in a dominating place on the Val di Magra plains and the town of Luni.<\/p>\n\n

Inhabited since the Prehistory<\/b>, it had its golden age between the fourteenth and eighteenth centuries, when it was the capital of an independent marquisate and governed by the most important branch of the Malaspina dello Spino Fiorito family, whose marquises were imperial vicars in Italy. This has left deep traces in local architecture, art and culture. Among these, the beautiful <\/span>Malaspina Castle<\/b> – the town’s main symbol \u2013 is one of the most beautiful and well-conserved fortresses in the Lunigiana region.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Antico distretto agreste romano, in seguito sede dell\u2019antica pieve di San Martino, che sorge pi\u00f9 a valle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nel borgo arroccato, sorge la torre cilindrica e il castello<\/strong>, che fu molto probabilmente un antico pago romano. Nel Medioevo assunse importanza con la corte degli Erberia e divenne in seguito un possesso dei Malaspina. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ancient Roman rural district, later home to the ancient parish church of San Martino, which rises further downstream.<\/p>\n\n

In the perched village, there is the <\/span>cylindrical tower and the castle<\/b>, which was most likely an ancient Roman pago. In the Middle Ages it assumed importance with the Erberia court and later became a possession of the Malaspina. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

Equi Terme si trova a ridosso di una delle cime pi\u00f9 maestose delle Alpi Apuane: il Pizzo d’Uccello. E\u2019 un magnifico borgo sviluppatosi intorno all’imbocco della Buca d’Equi, la grotta pi\u00f9 antica del complesso carsico delle Grotte di Equi<\/strong>, che ha restituito numerosi reperti paletnologici ed archeologici<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le grotte di Equi sono censite come geosito dal Parco Regionale delle Alpi Apuane, riconosciuto come Geoparco nell\u2019ambito della European Geoparks Network dell\u2019UNESCO. Il Complesso si \u00e8 formato nel corso di centinaia di migliaia di anni grazie all\u2019azione dell\u2019acqua che, penetrando per millenni nelle fratture del calcare, ha formato pozzi, gallerie, sale e laghi sotterranei di grande interesse e suggestione.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equi Terme \u00e8 suddiviso in due parti: la parte antica \u00e8 dominata dalla chiesa<\/strong> di San Francesco e dal suo campanile, con case in pietra, vicoli selciati ripidi e tortuosi e gallerie a volta<\/strong>, ed \u00e8 posizionata sulla sponda sinistra del fiume Lucido. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equi Terme is located close to one of the most majestic peaks of the Apuan Alps: the Pizzo d’Uccello.\u00a0 It\u2019s a magnificent village developed around the mouth of the Buca d’Equi (the Equi pit), the oldest cave in the <\/span>karst complex of the Caves of Equi<\/b>, that has returned numerous <\/span>palethnological and archaeological finds<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The caves of Equi are registered as a ‘geosite’ by the Apuan Alps Regional Park, recognized as a Geopark within the UNESCO European Geoparks Network. The complex was formed over hundreds of thousands of years thanks to the action of water which, penetrating limestone fractures for millennia, has formed wells, tunnels, salt and underground lakes of great interest and charm.<\/p>\n\n

Equi Terme is divided into two parts: the ancient part is dominated by the <\/span>church<\/b> of San Francesco and its bell tower, with <\/span>stone houses, steep and winding cobbled alleys and vaulted galleries<\/b>, and is located on the left bank of the Lucido river. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

Situato a dominio delle valli del Lucido e del Tassonaro, si possono godere suggestivi panorami<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il feudo fu un fiorente centro artigianale, prima sotto i Malaspina di Fosdinovo e del Castel dell’Aquila di Gragnola e poi dal 1418 sotto Firenze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Casola in Lunigiana, considerata la “porta di accesso” al Parco delle Alpi Apuane, abbraccia le catene montuose dell’Appennino e delle Apuane al confine tra la Lunigiana e la Garfagnana, un’area che nel corso dei secoli \u00e8 stata crocevia di mercanti e pellegrini<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La citt\u00e0 fortificata<\/strong> si svilupp\u00f2 nel XV secolo attorno a un castello, di cui rimangono solo la sua torre cilindrica<\/strong> e alcuni frammenti di mura. Per secoli Casola fu propriet\u00e0 della famiglia Malaspina di Fosdinovo. Nel 1841, insieme a Fivizzano entr\u00f2 a far parte del ducato di Modena<\/strong>, e nel 1859 la citt\u00e0 fu aggiunta alla provincia di Massa-Carrara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il vecchio Palazzo comunale ospita oggi il Museo dell’Alta Valle del Territorio di Aulella<\/strong>, che contiene resti di insediamenti umani nell’area della Lunigiana, risalenti al Paleolitico inferiore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il villaggio \u00e8 ben conservato ed emette un’aria suggestiva, vantando palazzi nobiliari<\/strong>, eleganti passaggi e negozi con un tocco medievale e rinascimentale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The town of Casola in Lunigiana, considered the \u201cgateway\u201d to the Apuan Alps Park, embraces both the Apennine and Apuan mountain chains on the border of the Lunigiana and Garfagnana regions, an area that along the centuries was a <\/span>crossroad of merchants and pilgrims<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The <\/span>fortified town<\/b> developed in the 15th century around a castle, whose only its <\/span>cylindrical tower<\/b> and a few wall fragments remain. For ages Casola was the property of the Malaspina di Fosdinovo family. In 1841, together with Fivizzano became part of the <\/span>Duchy of Modena<\/b>, and in 1859 the town was added to the Massa-Carrara province. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

The old Palazzo comunale today host the <\/span>Museum of the High Valley of the Aulella Territory<\/b>, which contains remains of human settlements in the Lunigiana area, dating to the Lower Paleolithic era.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The village is well preserved and emits a suggestive air, vaunting <\/span>noble palaces<\/b>, elegant passageways, and shops with medieval and Renaissance flair.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

All’interno del borgo<\/strong> sono visibili alcune rovine del Castello di Monte Fiore<\/strong>, costruito dal longobardo Guiterno nel XI secolo. Inside the <\/span>village<\/b> you can observe some <\/span>ruins of the Monte Fiore Castle<\/b>, built by the Langobard Guiterno in the 11th century. It was built on a high hill, to have a strong defensive function. Il paese ha di certo origini preistoriche, legate alla popolazione dei Liguri Apuani<\/strong>, ma il suo sviluppo \u00e8 avvenuto soprattutto nel medioevo essendo un importante luogo di transito lungo la via che collegava la costa e la Lunigiana orientale alla Pianura padana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durante la dominazione fiorentina il paese divenne anche luogo d’esilio per persone indesiderate di quella citt\u00e0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il paese \u00e8 dominato dalla chiesa<\/strong> di S.Michele, crollata nell’800 causa una frana e poi per il terremoto del 1920. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esiste un castello di epoca medievale<\/strong>, del quale \u00e8 tuttavia rimasto ben poco, anche per ragioni di carattere statico. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nei dintorni i sentieri portano a magnifici castagneti<\/strong>, un tempo una delle principali fonti di attivit\u00e0 economica, tanto che in passato le case del paese non avevano camini, poich\u00e9 ogni famiglia aveva un metato per seccare le castagne al centro della stanza. Tuttavia, tradizionalmente il “metato” era un piccolo edificio separato di due stanze, che serviva tutto il villaggio o comunque diverse famiglie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The village certainly has <\/span>prehistoric origins, linked to the population of the Apuan Ligurians<\/b>, but its development took place especially in the Middle Ages being an important transit place along the road that connected the coast and the eastern Lunigiana to the Po Valley. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

During the Florentine domination, the village also became a place of exile for people cast out of the city of Florence. <\/p>\n\n

The town is dominated by the <\/span>church<\/b> of S. Michele, which was destroyed first by a landslide in the 19th century and then by the earthquake of 1920.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n

There is a <\/span>medieval castle<\/b>, of which, however, very little remains, also because for the unstable nature of the land.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n

In the surroundings, the paths lead to <\/span>magnificent chestnut groves<\/b>, once one of the main local resources, so much so that in the past, the houses of the village had no chimneys, as each family had their own \u201cmetato\u201d to dry the chestnuts, built-in the house itself and functioning as a source of heating. However, traditionally the \u201cmetato\u201d was a separate small two-room building, serving all the village or in any case several families.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n

It consisted of two floors; on the ground floor it had a large hearth in the centre. The chestnuts were spread on a grid on the second floor. Nel borgo si conservano diversi edifici interessanti. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All’ingresso del paese si pu\u00f2 osservare la cosiddetta \u201cCasa dei Da Palude\u201d<\/strong> gi\u00e0 residenza dell’antica famiglia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nonostante i danni subiti durante il terremoto del 1920 l’edificio mantiene elementi di notevole interesse storico architettonico. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All’interno del loggiato sono anche presenti diversi affreschi raffiguranti immagini sacre attribuibili al XVII sec. Un secondo portale situato al primo piano \u00e8 datato \u201c1583\u201d. Anche l’oratorio interno contiene affreschi seicenteschi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the village there are several interesting buildings.<\/p>\n\n

At the entrance of the village you can see the one known as <\/span>“Casa dei Da Palude”<\/b>, former residence of this ancient family.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Despite the damage suffered during the 1920 earthquake, the building maintains elements of considerable historical and architectural interest. <\/p>\n\n

Inside the porch there are also several frescoes depicting sacred images probably dating back to the seventeenth century. A second portal located on the first floor is dated “1583”. The internal oratory also contains seventeenth-century frescoes. <\/p>\n\n

Anche Legoreccio era villa della contea di Crovara, feudo dei Da Palude. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nel borgo si evidenzia proprio la cosiddetta \u201cCorte dei Da Palude\u201d<\/strong>, uno dei pi\u00f9 significativi edifici patrizi della montagna reggiana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consta di un’ampia corte chiusa con un porticato interno e un loggiato con archi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un’ampia scalinata conduce ai piani abitativi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interessante anche il pozzo a scomparsa con meccanismi originali. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alla corte \u00e8 annesso un oratorio<\/strong> riferibile al XVII sec. 
Sul fianco est del complesso, invece, si situa una casa a torre attribuibile alla fine del XIV-met\u00e0 XV sec. In the village, the so-called <\/span>“Corte dei Da Palude”<\/b> stands out as one of the most significant patrician buildings in the Reggio Emilia mountains.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

It consists of a large enclosed courtyard with an internal porch and a loggia with arches.<\/p>\n\n

A wide staircase leads to the residential floors.<\/p>\n\n

A retractable well with original mechanisms is also interesting. <\/p>\n\n

An <\/span>oratory<\/b> dating back to the 17th century is an annex of the courtyard.\u00a0<\/span>On the East side of the complex, there is a tower house probably belonging to the end of the XIV-mid XV century. A rural small hamlet placed on a tiny terrace on the side of Monte Pulce (the Flea Mountain). Sorge lungo il dorso di una collina nel medio bacino dell’Enza non lontano dal Monte Tesa<\/strong>, suggestivo punto panoramico, oggetto anche di scavi archeologici.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caratteristiche sono le case pi\u00f9 antiche, con aspetto di piccole corti<\/strong>, una delle quali comprende pure una torre<\/strong> ben conservata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quasi al centro della facciata \u00e8 visibile una pietra tondeggiante, che aveva funzione augurale. Molte altre \u201cbugne\u201d augurali<\/strong> sono visibili su altre case del borgo, che attestano di credenze di origine antichissima. The village lies on a hill side, in the middle of the Enza river basin, not far from <\/span>Monte Tesa<\/b>, a suggestive panoramic viewpoint and an archaeological excavation site.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

It is distinctive for its antique dwellings, reminding of <\/span>small courts<\/b>, one of them includes even a small, well preserved <\/span>tower<\/b>. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

Tucked almost at the centre of its fa\u00e7ade, a round stone like a \u201cbunion\u201d, which worked for good omen, can be seen.
