[16

At this point, we’ll meet another face of the Prenestini Mountains that stands out almost as if to attack the sky above it. Our view opens in the direction of the sanctuary of Mentorella that rises on a spur of rock at 1020 meters above sea level. This spur is part of the Caprini mountains and is located in the northern part of this sub-chain. The Caprini Mountains are on the eastern edge of the Prenestini Mountains, for a length of about two kilometers. The Caprini is easily recognized by a straight ridge parallel to the axis of the Prenestini, a lower ridge interposed between them and the Pisoniano anticline. The importance of this sub-chain lies in its wealth of biodiversity that conquers even bare spurs like the ones we see. In fact, these bare rocks are a favorite place for particular protected species such as the Peregrine Falcon and the Imperial Crow, the latter having returned to nest in the Prenestini Mountains for several decades.

[12.934164,41.93029]}}
