[16

We are in an alluvial plain, the Prenestini Mountains are rich in water, 265 springs have been mapped and the catchment areas flow partly into the Aniene river, and partly into the Sacco River. Climate change and an increase in anthropogenic withdrawal have generated water depletion over time. These waters penetrate through calcareous fractures, creep into the ground, and often, when they encounter impermeable geological layers, flow into basal springs, of which this plain is rich. Water is life and many species that make up the biodiversity of the Prenestini Mountains are linked to this element. In this area, we want to bring attention to a very special and endangered species: the crayfish (Austropotamobius pallipes). This crustacean needs very special conditions to live and particularly pure and oxygenated water, its presence pushes us to protect more and more and better areas that still maintain their conservation status.

This alluvial plain represents a real gateway that goes up to the heart of the Prenestini Mountains, an ascent that we will see will cross one of the most beautiful parts of our territory furrowed by streams and ditches that scratch the eastern side.

[12.952392265099322,41.91442274739698]}}
