Il Lago Venerocolo, in territorio comunale di Edolo, \u00e8 posto a 2540 metri di quota ai piedi dell\u2019incombente parete Nord dell\u2019Adamello. \u00c8 il pi\u00f9 elevato tra i numerosi bacini artificiali del massiccio e tra i pi\u00f9 alti dell\u2019intera catena alpina. \u00c8 sostenuto da una diga a sperone in calcestruzzo, costruita nel 1959 dalla societ\u00e0 Edison, alta 27 metri e lunga 380 al coronamento.
\nIl bacino idroelettrico ha una profondit\u00e0 massima di circa 27 metri e l\u2019invaso pu\u00f2 arrivare a contenere 2,5 milioni di metri cubi d\u2019acqua, per lo pi\u00f9 prodotta dal disgelo primaverile. Data la quota elevata, si presenta gelato in superficie per molti mesi dell\u2019anno, restando completamente libero dal ghiaccio soltanto nel periodo estivo. Le acque del lago alimentano una piccola centrale in galleria, situata sulle sponde del sottostante Lago Benedetto.
\nPer testimoniare, soprattutto durante la stagione invernale, la dura vita dei guardiani che presidiavano le dighe dislocate nell’alta Val d’Avio, la societ\u00e0 Edison affid\u00f2 all\u2019allora giovanissimo Ermanno Olmi, il grande autore e regista italiano morto nel 2018, la realizzazione del lungometraggio dal titolo \u201cIl tempo si \u00e8 fermato\u201d. Il filmato venne girato nel 1958 nella conca del Venerocolo, dove stavano per essere ultimati i lavori di costruzione dell\u2019omonima diga. Pi\u00f9 che un lungometraggio, si tratta di un film di stile neorealista: suono in presa diretta, rigorosa aderenza agli avvenimenti con due attori non professionisti, il pi\u00f9 anziano ed esperto Natale Rossi di Pontagna una frazione di Tem\u00f9 e Paolo Quadrubbi di Vione, entrambi guardiani delle dighe dipendenti dell’Edison affiancati al giovane attore milanese Roberto Seveso.

Lake Venerocolo, within the Edolo town boundaries, at an altitude of 2540 metres, is at the foot of the imposing north face of Mt Adamello. It is the highest of the massif\u2019s many artificial lakes and one of the highest in the Alps. It is held in by a concrete spur dam built in 1959 by the Edison company to a height of 27 metres and 380 metres long at its crown.
\nAt its deepest the hydroelectric basin is around 27 metres deep and the basin can hold 2.5 million cubic metres of water, mainly coming from spring thaw waters. Its considerable height means it is frozen over for many months a year and completely ice free only during the summer months. The lake\u2019s waters feed a small plant in the tunnel on the banks of Lake Benedetto below.
\nTo testify to the hard lives of the custodians of the Avio valley dams, in winter in particular, the Edison company commissioned the then very young Ermanno Olmi, the great Italian writer and director who died in 2018, to make a documentary film entitled Time Stood Still. It was filmed in 1958 in the Venerocolo basin, where work on the dam was in its final stages. It is more a Neorealist film than a documentary in actual fact, with live-recorded sound and a strict adherence to events, featuring two non-professional actors, the oldest and most expert of whom was Natale Rossi of Pontagna, a Tem\u00f9 hamlet, and the other Paolo Quadrubbi of Vione, both dam custodians and Edison employees, alongside young Milanese actor Roberto Seveso.

Der Venerocolo-See in der Gemeinde Edolo liegt in 2540 Meter H\u00f6he am Fu\u00dfe der aufragenden Nordwand des Adamello. Er ist das h\u00f6chste der zahlreichen Stauseen des Massivs und einer der h\u00f6chsten der gesamten Alpenkette. Er wird von einem 1959 von der Wasserkraftgesellschaft Edison errichteten Betondamm abgesperrt, der an der Dammkrone 27 Meter hoch und 380 Meter lang ist.
\nDas Wasserkraftbecken hat eine maximale Tiefe von etwa 27 Metern und der Stausee kann bis zu 2,5 Millionen Kubikmeter Wasser fassen, das haupts\u00e4chlich durch die Fr\u00fchjahrsschmelze entsteht. Aufgrund seiner H\u00f6henlage ist der See viele Monate im Jahr an der Oberfl\u00e4che gefroren, nur im Sommer ist er komplett eisfrei. Das Wasser des Sees speist ein kleines Kraftwerk in einem Tunnel, das sich am unteren Ufer des Benedetto-Sees befindet.
\nUm das harte Leben der W\u00e4chter, die vor allem im Winter die D\u00e4mme im oberen Avio-Tal bemannten, zu bezeugen, beauftragte die Wasserkraftgesellschaft Edison den 2018 verstorbenen italienischen Autor und Regisseur Ermanno Olmi mit dem Spielfilm \u201eAls die Zeit stillstand\u201c. Der Film wurde 1958 in der Senke des Venerocolo gedreht, wo der Bau des gleichnamigen Staudamms kurz vor der Fertigstellung stand. Der Film ist eher ein neorealistischer als ein abendf\u00fcllender Spielfilm: Livetonaufnahme, striktes Festhalten an der Wirklichkeit mit zwei Laiendarstellern, dem \u00e4lteren und erfahreneren Natale Rossi aus Pontagna, einem Ortsteil von Tem\u00f9, und Paolo Quadrubbi aus Vione, beide von Edison angestellte Dammw\u00e4chter, und dem jungen Mail\u00e4nder Schauspieler Roberto Seveso.
