Sei giunto a Capanna Bleis, posizione dominante per una panoramica sulle strutture di resistenza di prima linea in questa parte di territorio.
\nDurante la guerra i Comandi tenevano costantemente aggiornate delle carte topografiche ove venivano annotate ad una certa data la posizione dei pezzi di artiglieria, delle teleferiche, dei posti di vedetta, dei ricoveri e di quanto costituiva elemento di difesa della linea avanzata del fronte.
\nDal Laghetto Bleis, oltre alla mulattiera che risaliva zigzagando il ripido costone occidentale della Cima Cad\u00ec, un tronco di teleferica raggiungeva i baraccamenti collocati pochi metri pi\u00f9 in basso della vetta, in posizione defilata dai tiri delle artiglierie austriache attestate sulla cima del Monte Tonale Orientale e sulla cresta che a Nord s\u2019incunea in direzione del Torrione d\u2019Albiolo.
\nLungo il versante orientale, una lunghissima serie di reticolati posti appena a valle del crinale sbarrava il passo a eventuali attacchi avversari e si ergeva a difesa dei posti di vedetta, dei ricoveri e dei trinceramenti appena pi\u00f9 arretrati.
\nLa cresta, che collega la Cima Cad\u00ec con il Monte Tonale Occidentale, era percorsa per intero da un lungo sentiero di arroccamento che dava accesso a varie grotte ricovero e a postazioni d\u2019artiglieria, dove erano piazzati pezzi di piccolo calibro tra cui numerosi cannoni da 75A.
\nDal Laghetto Bleis, una mulattiera raggiungeva il Monte Tonale Occidentale, servito anche da un tronco di teleferica proveniente da Cima Bleis. Nel punto culminante della Cima Bleis era stata realizzata una postazione circolare per mitragliatrici da utilizzarsi in funzione antiaerea. La dislocazione di mitragliatrici, che potevano investire con fuoco incrociato le incursioni aeree nemiche, presenta il medesimo schema utilizzato per la difesa dei valichi e dei piccoli passi lungo tutta la linea del fronte. L\u2019ottima posizione consentiva il facile avvistamento degli aerei avversari che, lungo la Val di Sole, tentavano incursioni in territorio camuno. Sentiamo come gli scontri in questo settore furono descritti dal cappellano militare don Primo Discacciati, che il 22 maggio del 1918 annot\u00f2 sul suo diario:<\/p>\n
\u201cAlle 8 e mezza l\u2019artiglieria ripiglia il suo fuoco infernale. 4 nostri aeroplani nonostante il vento fortissimo solcano il cielo e vanno sulle linee nemiche. Gli Austriaci rispondono con pochi colpi alle batterie che pi\u00f9 danno fastidio. \nDuring the war the army command kept constantly updated maps of the area on which they noted down gun positions, teleferics, look-out posts, shelters and defensive areas in the front\u2019s advance lines at specific dates.
\nFrom Laghetto Bleis, in addition to the mule track which zigzagged up the steep western rib of Cima Cadi, a section of teleferic linked up the huts just a few metres below the summit and sheltered from Austrian artillery fire from the peak of Mt Tonale Occidentale and the ridge which forms a wedge from the north in the direction of Torrione d\u2019Albiolo.
\nAlong the eastern slopes, a very long sequence of barbed wire was positioned just below the ridge to block off any enemy attacks and defend the look-out posts, shelters and trenches just behind them.
\nLinking up Cima Cad\u00ec to Mt Tonale Occidentale, the ridge was the site of a long fortified footpath all the way along it which gave access to the various cave shelters and artillery posts with their small calibre guns, including many 75A field guns.
\nFrom Laghetto Bleis, a mule track climbed up to Mt Tonale Occidentale, which was also served by a teleferic section from Cima Bleis. At the summit of Cima Bleis a circular position was built for machine guns, to be used for anti aircraft functions. The layout of the machine guns, which could direct cross fire at enemy aircraft, followed the same plan used for the defence of the passes and cols along the front as a whole. This optimal position enabled enemy aircraft to be spotted easily if they attempted to venture into the Camonica area along the Sole valley. Listen to the way fighting in this sector was described by army chaplain Don Primo Discacciati on 22 May 1918 when he noted down in his diary:<\/p>\n
\u2018At 8.30 the artillery started its infernal fire up once again. In the face of very strong winds four of our planes took to the skies and headed out to the enemy lines. \nW\u00e4hrend des Krieges wurden die topografischen Karten durch das Milit\u00e4rkommando laufend aktualisiert. Auf den Karten war die Position der Artilleriegesch\u00fctze, der Seilbahnen, der Beobachtungsposten, der Unterst\u00e4nde sowie aller Verteidigungselemente der Frontlinie vermerkt.
\nVom Bleis-See aus, zus\u00e4tzlich zu dem Saumpfad, der sich im Zickzack den steilen Westgrat der Cad\u00ec-Spitze hinaufschl\u00e4ngelte, erreichte eine Seilbahn die Kaserne, die sich wenige Meter unterhalb des Gipfels befand. Hier konnte sie das Feuer der \u00f6sterreichischen Artillerie nicht erreichen, die sich auf dem Gipfel des \u00f6stlichen Bergs Tonale und auf dem n\u00f6rdlichen Grat in Richtung Torrione d’Albiolo befand.
\nEntlang der Ostseite, gleich unter dem Kamm versperrten Drahthindernisse den Durchgang f\u00fcr m\u00f6gliche gegnerische Attacken und verteidigten somit die Aussichtsposten, Unterst\u00e4nde und Sch\u00fctzengr\u00e4ben, die sich weiter hinten befanden.
\nDer Bergr\u00fccken, der die Cad\u00ec-Spitze mit dem westlichen Berg Tonale verbindet, wurde von einem langen Verbindungsgang \u00fcberquert, der den Zugang zu verschiedenen Unterstandsh\u00f6hlen und Artilleriestellungen erm\u00f6glichte, in denen kleine Gesch\u00fctze, darunter mehrere 75A-Kanonen, aufgestellt waren.
\nVom Bleis-See aus erreichte ein Saumpfad den westlichen Berg Tonale, der auch \u00fcber eine Seilbahn mit der Bleis-Spitze verbunden war. Auf dem Gipfel der Bleis-Spitze wurde eine kreisf\u00f6rmige Maschinengewehrstellung f\u00fcr die Flugabwehr errichtet. Die Maschinengewehre, die die feindlichen Luftangriffe mit Kreuzfeuer treffen konnten, wurden hier nach dem gleichen Schema verlegt, das f\u00fcr die Verteidigung der P\u00e4sse entlang der gesamten Frontlinie verwendet wurde. Die besonders g\u00fcnstige Lage erm\u00f6glichte es, gegnerische Flugzeuge, die entlang des Sonnentals Angriffe auf das Tal Valcamonica versuchten, sofort zu sichten. In seinem Tagebuch beschrieb Milit\u00e4rkaplan Don Primo Discacciati die K\u00e4mpfe, die hier stattfanden. Am 22. Mai 1918 notierte er:<\/p>\n
\u201eUm halb neun nahm die Artillerie ihr h\u00f6llisches Feuer wieder auf. 4 unserer Flugzeuge flogen, trotz des starken Windes, \u00fcber den Himmel und gegen die feindlichen Linien. Die \u00d6sterreicher konterten mit wenigen Sch\u00fcssen gegen die Batterien, die sie am meisten st\u00f6rten.
