Primi cenni del castello di Vincigliata si hanno nel 1031; al tempo la propriet\u00e0 era dei Vinsdomini e Alessandri. Per ben ottocento anni il castello \u00e8 stato venduto, perso al gioco tra le famiglie piu\u2019 importanti e famose in Firenze, fino ad essere quasi distrutto. Nel 1840 le sue rovine catturarono l’attenzione di un giovane lord inglese, John Temple Leader, che passeggiando tra le colline fiesolane, si imbatt\u00e8 in questo pittoresco rudere e affascinato da tale meraviglia, decise di comprarlo.<\/p>\n
Tra tutte le storie imprigionate in quelle mura, egli am\u00f2 la leggenda di donna bianca. Il suo sogno divenne quello di poter rivivere la magia del maestoso castello. Fu cosi\u2019 che Sir John si affid\u00f2 al fancelli, giovane architetto figlio del suo fattore, e alla collaborazione dei pi\u00f9 famosi artigiani, scultori, scalpellini, vetrai, pittori fiorentini, che contribuirono alla ricostruzione del castello in ogni suo particolare seguendo rigorosamente lo stile medievale.<\/p>\n
Rinasce cos\u00ec Vincigliata. Tra quelle mura cre\u00f2 cos\u00ec il suo prezioso museo personale esibendo ai suoi illustri ospiti, armature, affreschi e bassorilievi estrapolati dalle antiche botteghe e chiese fiorentine. The first allusions about the Castle of Vincigliata date back to 1031; at that time the property was owned by the families Vinsdomini and Alessandri. For over 800 years the castle passed from hand to hand among the most important and famous families of Florence, and gradually went to rack and ruin.<\/p>\n
In 1840 the English lord John Temple Leader was exploring the hills of Fiesole, when he came across the ruins of the picturesque medieval castle. He instantly fell in love with it and decided to restore it to its former glory. Among the many stories he uncovered about that place, Sir John especially loved the one about Donna Bianca. His dream was to restore the castle and to live here in its magic atmosphere. The exhaustive reconstruction was the work of Fancelli, son of the fattore or steward of Leader\u2019s Florentine estates, whom he had trained as an architect, with the collaboration of many famous artisans, sculptors, masons, glassmakers, painters, who contributed to the complete rebuilding of the castle in every detail, following the medieval style. Although Leader lived part of each year in the restored castle, he freely opened it to the public. The most distinguished visitors from royal, artistic, and literary circles throughout Europe have been delighted from the visit. Within these walls Sir John created his precious museum where his hosts could admire armours, frescoes and bas-relief.
