Castello di Meleto: delle origini del castello di Meleto sappiamo ben poco; venne forse eretto alla fine del sec XII da un ramo dei Ricasoli. Fu occupato per poco tempo dai Senesi nel 1478, mentre rimase senza successo un nuovo assedio del 1529-30.<\/p>\n
L’attuale costruzione \u00e8 un corpo quasi quadrato che incorpora una torre pi\u00f9 antica; forse quattrocenteschi sono i due torrioni cilindrici negli angoli sud ed est, questo molto ben conservato con il suo basamento a scarpa e l’apparato a sporgere della sommit\u00e0. Castle of Meleto: Not very much is known about the origins of Meleto Castle. It was probably built at the end of the XII century by a line of the Ricasoli family. It was occupied for a short time by the Sienese in 1478, but a further siege in 1529-30 was unsuccessful.<\/p>\n
The present building has an almost square outline that includes an older tower. The two cylindrical towers on the southern and eastern corners where possibly built in the XV century. The latter is very well preserved with a scarp wall base and machicolations at the top.
