The village, which developed around the ancient castle, still included within the medieval walls, is considered one of the oldest villages of Chianti. Originally the castle was equipped with two rounds of walls that were being developed on an octagonal perimeter. The walls were partially torn down along with the towers by the troops of Charles V during the siege of Florence.<\/p>\n
The current appearance dates back in the XVI cent., when several houses were built close to the walls with the residual material of the destroyed towers. Between the two wars it was then built the present villa and the local farm. Il paese, sviluppatosi intorno all\u2019antico castello, ancora compreso entro le mura medievali, \u00e8 ritenuto uno dei pi\u00f9 antichi villaggi del Chianti. Originariamente il castello era dotato di due giri di mura che si sviluppavano su un perimetro ottagonale che furono in parte abbattute insieme alle torri dalle truppe di Carlo V durante l\u2019assedio di Firenze.<\/p>\n
L\u2019aspetto attuale risale al\u2019500, quando alle mura si addossarono le case costruite con il materiale residuo delle torri andate distrutte. Tra le due guerre vennero poi erette l\u2019attuale villa ed i locali della fattoria.
