La\u00a0chiesa di Santa Maria del Fiore di Firenze<\/b>\u00a0(meglio conosciuta come il\u00a0Duomo<\/a><\/b>) \u00e8 stata il risultato di un progetto architettonico studiato da\u00a0Arnolfo di Cambio<\/a><\/b>\u00a0iniziato nel 1296. La\u00a0cupola<\/a>\u00a0del Duomo<\/b>\u00a0\u00e8 opera del\u00a0Brunelleschi<\/a><\/b>\u00a0mentre la facciata \u00e8 stata terminata nel tardo XVII secolo.<\/div>\n

La\u00a0cupola del\u00a0Duomo di Firenze<\/a><\/b>\u00a0(Ottagonale, 46 metri di diametro alla base, 114,5 metri di altezza) fu costruita senza l’uso di sostegni per sorreggere gli archi ma usando una tecnica studiata scrupolosamente da Brunelleschi che lott\u00f2 anche con lo scetticismo dei concittadini. Obiettivo del progetto era quello di alleggerire l’imponente struttura e usare sofisticate tecniche matematiche per la sua costruzione usando anche macchine innovative. Brunelleschi vinse il concorso instituito nell’anno 1418 ma all’artista ne venne affiacato un altro:\u00a0Ghiberti<\/a>. Questo non piacue al Brunelleschi che minacci\u00f2 di strappare il suo progetto ma poi sfid\u00f2 il Ghiberti cedendogli i propri studi. Dopo poco tempo Ghiberti si arrese ammettendo la propria incapacit\u00e0 nel capire gli scritti del Brunelleschi.<\/div>\n

Cos\u00ec tutto torn\u00f2 in mano al legittimo proprietario che part\u00ec con la costruzione: era l’anno 1420. L’interno della chiesa \u00e8 uno spettacolo imperdibile con bellissimi affreschi, sculture e pavimento di marmo. Le pitture sulla cupola del Duomo formano il pi\u00f9 vasto ciclo murale con soggetto sacro che si conosca. Una superfice di circa 3600 mq di dipinti eseguiti ad una altezza che arriva fino a 90 metri. Gli artisti che hanno contribuito ad abbellire la chiesa del Duomo di Firenze sono innumerevoloi ed appartengono anche a secoli diversi.<\/div>\n

The church of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence (better known as the Duomo) was the result of an architectural project designed by Arnolfo di Cambio started in 1296. The dome of the Duomo is the work of Brunelleschi while the facade was finished in the late 17th century century.<\/div>\n

The dome of the Duomo of Florence (Octagonal, 46 meters in diameter at the base, 114.5 meters in height) was built without the use of supports to support the arches but using a technique studied scrupulously by Brunelleschi who also fought with the skepticism of the fellow citizens. The aim of the project was to lighten the imposing structure and use sophisticated mathematical techniques for its construction using also innovative machines.<\/div>\n

Brunelleschi won the competition set up in the year 1418 but the artist was saddened by another: Ghiberti. This does not appeal to Brunelleschi who threatened to tear up his project but then challenged Ghiberti by giving him his studies. After a short time Ghiberti surrendered admitting his inability to understand the writings of Brunelleschi. So all returned to the rightful owner who left with the construction: it was the year 1420.<\/div>\n

The interior of the church is a must see with beautiful frescoes, sculptures and marble floor. The paintings on the dome of the Cathedral form the largest mural cycle with a sacred subject known. An area of \u200b\u200babout 3600 square meters of paintings executed at a height of up to 90 meters. The artists who have helped to beautify the church of the Duomo of Florence are innumerable and also belong to different centuries.<\/div>\n
