Affacciata sulla Valle del Mincio, Volta Mantovana si estende ai piedi del Castello medievale. Ritrovamenti del V-IV sec. a.C. in localit\u00e0 Cereta fanno supporre la frequentazione dell’area gi\u00e0 durante l’et\u00e0 del Ferro.<\/p>\n
Si ipotizza che il castello sia di fondazione altomedievale, ma sicuramente esiste alla fine del X quando entra a far parte del sistema difensivo dei Canossa. Il castello raggiunge la sua definitiva sistemazione nei secoli XIV e XV: formato da una cinta muraria e da relativo fossato, all’interno ospita la chiesa, il piccolo borgo oltre che una fortezza pi\u00f9 interna che difende il mastio e un’altra torre a sud oggi recuperata. Overlooking the Valle del Mincio, Volta Mantovana extends to the foot of the medieval castle.<\/span> Rests of the V-IV century B.C. in the locality of Cereta they suggest the frequentation of the area already during the Iron Age.<\/p>\n It is assumed that the castle is of the early Middle Ages, but certainly exists at the end of the X when it becomes part of the Canossa defensive system. The castle reaches its final settlement in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries: formed by a wall and its moat, inside houses the church, the small village as well as a more internal fortress that defends the keep and another tower to the south today recovered.
