Realizzato, su disegno del piemontese <em>Sambuy<\/em>, per dotare Bologna di un grande spazio verde pubblico sull\u2019esempio delle maggiori citt\u00e0 italiane ed europee, venne inaugurato nel <strong>1879<\/strong> con il nome di <em>Passeggio Regina Margherita<\/em> (in omaggio alla moglie di <em>Umberto I<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<section class=\"elenco-paragrafi margin-bottom-object-group\">\n<article class=\"list box-espanso row\">\n<figure class=\"thumb-wrapper col-lg-4\"><\/figure>\n<div class=\"corpo col-lg-8\">\n<section class=\"abstract htmlcontent\">I giardini, che hanno una superficie di <strong>26 ettari<\/strong>, conservano buona parte dell\u2019assetto originario, vagamente ispirato ai parchi romantici inglesi, con ampi viali alberati, un laghetto contornato da finte scogliere di gesso, vaste superfici a prato, boschetti di querce e altri angoli pi\u00f9 naturali, un corredo di notevoli esemplari arborei in prevalenza esotici (cedri, pini, ippocastani, platani, cipressi calvi, qualche farnia, una sequoia).<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<article class=\"list box-espanso row\">\n<div class=\"corpo col-lg-8\">\n<section class=\"abstract htmlcontent\">Durante i lavori per la realizzazione del parco, nell\u2019area venne alla luce un sepolcreto etrusco, dal quale proviene la pregevole tomba in travertino che si ammira ai margini del prato centrale. It was designed by the Piedmontese Sambuy to provide Bologna with an ample green and public place as in other Italian and European cities.
