It seems that, at the time of the Ancient Roman Empire, the Gulf of Tigullio where the old village is resting, was populated by dolphins. This is the reason why the natural philosopher Pliny the Elder called this place “Portus Delphini”, the Latin words for “harbor of the dolphins”. The old part of the town still shows today the structure of the Roman colonies. However, it is the main square of Portofino that really captures all the magic of this location, overhanging the small port. When you arrive, we suggest to enjoy a glass of Vermentino wine in one of the beautiful cafés.

[9.209787900000038,44.3031559]}}
